Day 19 - 28.12.2025 - Day trip to Stavanger

I've been reliably informed (by Marie) that Stavanger is the world's richest city and their unemployment rate is only 1%! Well this should be interesting...
Anyway had a lie-in today until 07:20 - woohoo!!
The sunrise was impressive from our balcony..
Showered, breakfast, then headed on the world's longest under-sea tunnel 14km - and there's a tunnel in each direction... so you could say 28km...?
Decided to charge first, once we got to Stavanger, as there are no Tesla charges on our side of the tunnel 😢
So charged at 11:35 for 31mins to give us a 95% charge, then headed over to see Sverd i fjell...
3x10m high solid brass viking swords sunk in rock - stunning!!
Next, we headed into central Stavanger as I'd found on a parking app, that some on-street parking was free on a Sunday. Parked up and headed into the waterfront at the centre..
Stavanger turned out to be a really odd mix of really old beautiful wooden houses and concrete monstrosities packed sided by side - 1793 alongside 1973 if you will... Really odd! None of even the newest buildings looked any different to the 1970/80s buildings we have in the UK... It just didn't work! It was very clean and tidy, but....dated! Didn't really like it beyond the old houses..
Anyway had lunch at Burger King as it was open, we were frozen as it was 3°C and the wind was strong, oh - and I needed the loo!
Walked back to the car and headed back to the apartment...

Woke up just before 07:00, so up, showered, breakfast and pack the car and off by 0900. A long day today - 3 countries - Netherlands to Germany to Denmark... 5 charging stops - although only needed 4, but worked on the principle to charge when we stop not just stop to charge. It appears that Big Blue CAN go further than my bladder! Getting old is fun - NOT!!! Stop 1 @ 10:07 for 14mins - in the Netherlands, this time the car needed a charge NOT me needing a comfort break! Stop 2 @ 12:26 for 8mins - in Germany, this time me NOT the car needing stop. Stop 3 @ 14:07 for 5mins - in Germany, was supposed to be a lunch stop, but the pizza machine wasn't working! So carried on as far as I could go. Stop 4 @ 14:50 for 34mins - in Germany and adjacent to a MaccieDs - finally! We were starving and both needed the loo! Again the car was ready before us!! Day 12 - 21.12.2025 - Day trip to the Arctic Circle & saw the Aurora Borealis!

Even though we didn't set an alarm we both woke before 6 - lazy breakfast, Cast a couple of episodes of 'Camp Cretaceous', showered and left about 09:45 for Mo I Rana and charging, stopping to admire the views along the way... Stop 1 @ Mo I Rana for 23mins, then off to The Arctic Circle Centre.... Roads were the same as last night (IE snowy and inch thick ice in places), but without rain, but having been gritted, then we positively blasted along at around 50mph!! Just over an hour later and we arrived at the centre... It was cold, about -5°C and the sky was clear... And even though it was only 12:15 it was already getting dark!! It had taken 2479 miles, 8 different countries, a channel crossing (by train), £270 of Supercharging & 12 days to get here, but it was worth it! Only stopped for about 10mins as it was -5°C, then headed back to the charger at Mo I Rana. ...

Day 4 - 13.12.2025 - Day trip to Amsterdam

We were up and ready to go by 0900, so off we went to Amsterdam with the intention of parking adjacent to a park near the city centre. With a quick charge on the way in at a Tesla Supercharger. When we arrived, we found plenty of on-street parking, but could we find a parking meter.... anywhere? Could we f***! So a quick search on a parking app I had found last night called ParkBee, found us an underground secure parking for 24 cars nearby for only €14.85 for 5 hours. Got there in 5 mins, opened the gates from the app, parked up and walked out, shutting the gate behind us (again - from the app) - so cool! Then we walked along the Amstel River into Amsterdam Central, past all the house boats and the locks that make the dam on the Amstel (hence Amsterdam - apparently). We visited a bakery then headed into the oldest part of the city... We headed into Chinatown and found a little restaurant called New King...
