Day 14 - 23.12.2025 - nr Trondheim to The Wood Hotel (Brumunddal)

Another early start, woke up at 05:00 this morning - getting silly now - an hour BEFORE the alarm! 🤦
It was bloody freezing this morning -5°C the coldest we've seen - the same as the Arctic Circle Centre!
Packed the car after breakfast etc and set off at 08:00
Stop 1 was at 09:14 for1 3 mins - I needed the loo more than BB needs gogo - juice!
This was a big installation - 32 of the fastest (V4) Tesla Superchargers!!
Anyway back on the road and the temperature was slowly falling...
-14°C!! We hadn't seen temperatures this low since 2015 part way up the Matterhorn on our big caravan holiday (see our other blog)!
Charge stop 2 was at 10:58 in Alvdal for 35mins - needn't have been that long, but we needed lunch, so visited the adjacent Co-op and bought a sandwich, fresh salad and various bits and bobs.
This was a huge charging hub with 44 (V2) Superchargers!
Just as we left the charging hub, we saw this...
Apparently it's a museum and is from a famous Norwegian Comic....?
Anyway we drove for another half hour before finding somewhere to stop to eat.
It was still very cold and we saw lots of snow, mountains and frozen lakes and rivers, plus a few weird bits ..
...and he was a BIG bugger!
We called at an off licence so Marie could get some wine for Christmas, then onto the apartment in what was the World's tallest wooden building!
We arrived at 15:15 and it was still light...
We found the apartment and the views were amazing..
BB is above, on the far left by herself (she's a bit antisocial)...
and then went back to BB to fetch the cases by which time it was getting dark...
You can just make out our apartment now lit - the window fourth floor down from top with the diagonal wooden beam in the window..
There is a Tesla Supercharging Hub in the car park and BB can be sent by herself now it's quieter...
And a couple inside the apartment...

Woke up just before 07:00, so up, showered, breakfast and pack the car and off by 0900. A long day today - 3 countries - Netherlands to Germany to Denmark... 5 charging stops - although only needed 4, but worked on the principle to charge when we stop not just stop to charge. It appears that Big Blue CAN go further than my bladder! Getting old is fun - NOT!!! Stop 1 @ 10:07 for 14mins - in the Netherlands, this time the car needed a charge NOT me needing a comfort break! Stop 2 @ 12:26 for 8mins - in Germany, this time me NOT the car needing stop. Stop 3 @ 14:07 for 5mins - in Germany, was supposed to be a lunch stop, but the pizza machine wasn't working! So carried on as far as I could go. Stop 4 @ 14:50 for 34mins - in Germany and adjacent to a MaccieDs - finally! We were starving and both needed the loo! Again the car was ready before us!! Stop 5 @ 17:43 for 22 mins - in Denmark - we all needed a stop this time - I needed to partake and we needed enough ...

Day 12 - 21.12.2025 - Day trip to the Arctic Circle & saw the Aurora Borealis!

Even though we didn't set an alarm we both woke before 6 - lazy breakfast, Cast a couple of episodes of 'Camp Cretaceous', showered and left about 09:45 for Mo I Rana and charging, stopping to admire the views along the way... Stop 1 @ Mo I Rana for 23mins, then off to The Arctic Circle Centre.... Roads were the same as last night (IE snowy and inch thick ice in places), but without rain, but having been gritted, then we positively blasted along at around 50mph!! Just over an hour later and we arrived at the centre... It was cold, about -5°C and the sky was clear... And even though it was only 12:15 it was already getting dark!! It had taken 2479 miles, 8 different countries, a channel crossing (by train), £270 of Supercharging & 12 days to get here, but it was worth it! Only stopped for about 10mins as it was -5°C, then headed back to the charger at Mo I Rana. ...

Day 4 - 13.12.2025 - Day trip to Amsterdam

We were up and ready to go by 0900, so off we went to Amsterdam with the intention of parking adjacent to a park near the city centre. With a quick charge on the way in at a Tesla Supercharger. When we arrived, we found plenty of on-street parking, but could we find a parking meter.... anywhere? Could we f***! So a quick search on a parking app I had found last night called ParkBee, found us an underground secure parking for 24 cars nearby for only €14.85 for 5 hours. Got there in 5 mins, opened the gates from the app, parked up and walked out, shutting the gate behind us (again - from the app) - so cool! Then we walked along the Amstel River into Amsterdam Central, past all the house boats and the locks that make the dam on the Amstel (hence Amsterdam - apparently). We visited a bakery then headed into the oldest part of the city... We headed into Chinatown and found a little restaurant called New King...
