Day 11 - 20.12.2025 - nr Umeå (Sweden) to nr Mo I Rana (Norway)

Good night's sleep last night in the world's smallest double bed (Marie ended up on the sofa bed)!!

The AirBnB had a fantastic view over a frozen lake...

Early start though - up at 05:50 and shower, packing and breakfast - of toast and boiled eggs - yum yum!!!

Left at 08:10 and headed straight to the local charger as going over the mountains was going push BB to her limits.

Stop 1 was at Umea at 08:18 for 20mins.

Then we set off for Mo i Rana and found snow!!!

The views were stunning...

We drove for several hours enjoying views of snow everywhere! And frozen lakes and reservoirs. We saw a moose, 2 herds of reindeer walking across frozen lakes and a snow hare.

A quick stop at a rest area with heated toilets, hot water and hand dryers - all spotless!

Then onto next charging spot...

Stop 2 was at 10:49 for 12mins...

That's when the fun started....

IT STARTED RAINING!!!

Now when it rains at 2-3°C onto roads that are covered with snow and ice, they turn into glass! Now our tyres are great in snow, but for ice you need studded tyres....

Things got very slippery very fast...

Up until now we had been driving at around 50-55mph with no issues - BB was planted and stable, but suddenly she got very tail happy, and going downhill was downright frightening! We had to drive at 25-30 mph to stay safe as did many other cars - well all but those with studded tyres that paid little heed to the ice.

The rainbows were incredible though...

We made it to Stop 3 at 12:45 for 28mins and it took us that long to calm down - we were only a third of the was there!!!!

I checked Google maps for somewhere local to eat and a cafe looked nice, called 'Lapland Deli'.

So once we had finished charging we drove into the nearest village and parked across the road from the deli...

Toasted sandwiches with salad and tea/coffee and we were feeling better and set off again.

Now we HAD to get to Mo I Rana tonight no matter what, so just under 200miles at 25-30mph until we got to a tunnel 20ish miles short of Mo I Rana, then we were able to speed up to about 40pmh.... We were exhausted - every time I had to accelerate or slow down for the last 5 or so hours had been a fight and we'd been crossing mountains!!

We stopped at a Co-op just before the Norwegian border to pick up some food for tea, but only for 15mins, then we finally reached the Superchargers in Mo I Rana at 19:01 for charging Stop 4 - 16mins for enough juice to get us the 40+km to the Air BnB and back to the Superchargers tomorrow...

We finally made it to the Air BnB at just after 20:00...

That's 12 hours to cover 327miles - that's an average of only 27mph - we normally cruise at 60-65mph.

We were knackered!

We unpacked, had some food and bed!
