Day 22 - 31.12.2025 - Day in Oslo

Image
Up at 06:30 today even with no alarm set! Can't stop waking up early! Had breakfast and shower then watched the sun rise over the city. Caught up on yesterday's blog post. Unplugged BB as the owners let me plug her in overnight and she was now at 80%. Then we walked down into Oslo... Stopped first at a local bakery and picked up tomorrow's breakfast - cinnamon buns (a very Norwegian thing apparently). Then carried on into central Oslo . A very modern affair that was quiet and clean... First stop, the Munch Gallery.. Which we went inside, but didn't go around. Next onto the Oslo Opera House . These were next to a harbour.. That was frozen, but that didn't stop people from swimming... It was -3°C at this point - bonkers! Then we went onto the Deichman Bjørvika - Oslo's main library. Mainly for a warm, but, wow! What a place! Stunning! ...

Day 21 - 30.12.2025 - Jørpeland nr Stavanger to Oslo

Up with the alarm at 06:00 this morning. Showered, breakfast, packed and out by 07:50 - it was bloody cold though, -4°C. Off through the mountains, before stopping for our first charge at 09:04 for 16mins whilst having our second breakfast.. The sky was pretty awesome .. If we did one tunnel today we must have done 30-50 - we lost count. Some were misty inside which was weird!! We've found that getting anywhere in Norway is very time consuming - the maximum speed on motorways is 110kph (68mph), but these limits are few and far between. The average is 70kph, which is 43mph, and when it's commonly 300miles (nearly 500km) between major cities (and that doesn't take in consideration altitude changes and weather etc), that means it takes about 7hrs (without stops) to get anywhere!! Anyway, lunch stop was near Kristiansand in a retail park - for half an hour, time for another BK. Then...

Day 20 - 29.12.2025 - Lazy day and exploring Jørpeland

07:30 wake up this morning. Toast and jam and an episode of Stranger Things for breakfast, whilst watching the sun rise over the archipelago. Now I've been having reception problems with my phone on and off... Some days I've had no reception for days - Marie's phone has been ok for data, but unable to make calls - so I decided to call Vodafone this morning and sort it. Half an hour on the phone (Marie's as mine can't make / receive calls at the moment), and Marie's is now sorted, but mine is still causing problems. So we called it quits and headed into the local town for supplies. First we went in the bakery and picked up breakfast for tomorrow, a sandwich for tea and cake for pudding. Next headed to the off-licence (all alcohol over a certain percentage can only be sold by specific stores that are government controlled and only open certain times of certain days). Next headed into the Co-op Extra and picked up bread, yogurts, crisps.. - oh god 🤦 He...

Day 19 - 28.12.2025 - Day trip to Stavanger

Image
I've been reliably informed (by Marie) that Stavanger is the world's richest city and their unemployment rate is only 1%! Well this should be interesting... Anyway had a lie-in today until 07:20 - woohoo!! The sunrise was impressive from our balcony.. Showered, breakfast, then headed on the world's longest under-sea tunnel 14km - and there's a tunnel in each direction... so you could say 28km...? Decided to charge first, once we got to Stavanger, as there are no Tesla charges on our side of the tunnel 😢 So charged at 11:35 for 31mins to give us a 95% charge, then headed over to see Sverd i fjell... 3x10m high solid brass viking swords sunk in rock - stunning!! Next, we headed into central Stavanger as I'd found on a parking app, that some on-street parking was free on a Sunday. Parked up and headed into the waterfront at the centre.. ...
