August..... early preparations

So where to start?

Well, it's been 10 years since our last big holiday and that was a trip to Switzerland, the Black Forest and Paris in December 2015 with our Discovery 4 and Adria caravan - it was a holiday of a lifetime with high winds, biblical rain, several feet of snow, temperatures down to -17°C, mountain passes, mountain car trains and 4 countries including France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy!

But, that was 10 years ago and one place we have always wanted to go was north to Scandinavia, but with the caravan this was impossible in December. But 10 years on and we no longer have a caravan or the Land Rover, we have a Tesla Model Y RWD - the opportunity to get to Scandinavia presented itself.

 

So after several years saving, we have put deposits down on 15 AirBnBs - from Folkestone to Mæla in Norway (just outside the Arctic Circle); we've got a digital toll unit fitted inside our windscreen for Scandinavian toll roads/bridges etc; we have a CritAir sticker for France; and an Umweltplakette (German environmental sticker).

We have planed our approximate route, bought snow chains (we've already got a set of snow approved - 3 peak mountain snowflake - tyres) and are rearing to go!
